Recently we moved a server and for some reason the NIC went bad. We replaced the NIC and everything seemed to be fine. Except our laptop users, and the following is what our Laptop users experience. Can anyone help?
- k:\ drive does not map - (it did before the NIC swap and all our desktops have no problem)
- Some of the laptops show a "Disconnected Network Drive" (k:\) If you double click on this it gives an error and then in about 10 seconds you can try again and it will let you into the drive
- On thoes that have no mapping, you can manually map the drive, but you have to "Connect" once and it will error out saying it can not be found. Wait 10 seconds and try again with no problems.
- Some laptops have the connection drop again during the day. If this happens they get an error message the server is unavaliable and in 10 seconds it will allow them to work as normal.
There seems to be a delayed conneciton to the server, but for the life of me I can not figure out why, or why only our laptops.
I have tried flushing the DNS and it did not help. Nothing else stands out to me.
Laptops: Windows XP
Server: Windows 2000
Please ask if you have any questions, and any help is appreciated.
