"Device\Harddisk1\D, has a bad block" error with new hard drive

I have been getting the error message, "The device, \Device\Harddisk1\D, has a bad block." pretty much every minute in my event viewer. I ran a check disk which turned up OK, but the messages persisted. On the advice of Microsoft, I replaced the hard drive yesterday ( I only have 1 hard drive) but ghosted over my old information. I am now running with my new hard drive and I am still seeing the "The device, \Device\Harddisk1\D, has a bad block." error with the same frequency. Any ideas?? I thought this message was due to a bad hard drive...

I think the message is due to a bad drive. However, not sure, but is it possible that the error is coming up because you ghosted the original bad drive.
Personally, I would save all important data & do a clean install of Windows. I know it is a pain, but it may just be a problem that has transfered over. You know how Windows can be!!
Take a look in the event viewer & see if you have any errors reported in there. I wouldn't be surprised if Windows is just throwing up the error because of the old HDD, for some reason.

Harddisk1\D" is referring to the second drive or partition in your system. Look in Disk Management and find drive D (Start, Run, diskmgmt.msc). Is D: drive your CD or DVD ROM drive?

The only reason I found this error in the first place was by reviewing the Event Viewer. The old drive was working just fine, but the "solution" to that error message is replace the hard drive. Obviously, it was not the right solution...

WRT the message refering to a second hard drive, I don't have 2 hard drives... this is my setup
A: drive (floppy)
C: drive (main hard drive)
D: drive (DVD writer)
E: Drive (CD-RW)
F: drive (DVD ROM)
G: drive says Winbond MS Drive. I don't know what that is, and the properties tab says it is a removable disk, with 0 bytes used / 0 bytes free. I do not have a removable disk connected.

Right now I do not have anything else connected, and the error is still appearing. I also connect a digital camera or IPOD, but they are not connected presently and the event viewer message just came up again.

So at the time the error occurs, do you have a CD or DVD in your DVD-Writer? The error is being generated from this device despite the fact the error states harddrive.
