I'm still running 4K V7R1 until I can get around to pushing out R2. I have downloaded the MIB files out of FM in assistant, but the OPENSTAGE-MIB.txt and the CORNETPHONE-MIB.mib files that are on there are syntactically incorrect and "under construction" from what I can tell. I have edited out all the syntax errors and made the SimpleWeb scanner happy, but they still won't compile. The rest of them seem OK. I'm wondering if anyone has somewhat recent (this year would be nice) releases of those files they can share. I need them for a project I'm trying to make happen. I'm assuming when I finally get V7R2 pushed out there might be newer files... I'm tempted to unzip the Assistant and go search for them, but I haven't gone that far yet. If anyone has access to SWD and they have the latest and greatest MIB files on there I would appreciate a share.

Thanks!

Hi Don,
Although I have used SNMP somehwat, I am not overly familiar with the MIB files.
Are there just 2 (OPENSTAGE and CORNETPHONE) or is there one MIB per device ?

Those 2 MIBs are like the data structure of what you can ask the phone to give you. In the phone you assign a 'community' (I use voip) allow queries, I use the same thing for the password. You also enter the IP of the server that will receive the traps / query. Then you can use that net map utility you have on here to discover all your phones and query their MAC address and stuff like that. I found out I can compile the Siemens MIBs into Windows database and then you can query all kinds of crap from the phone. Problem is that those 2 files have issues and they won't compile. You can get them out of FM in assistant by going into SNMP config and saying to download them.

I'm not sure - that's why I asked. I had access to it for a little while several months ago, but that's not the case any longer so I can't go look. I know I can't get them from the customer portal.

Found this nugget in "OpenScape 4000 Assistant V8 Simple Network Management Protocol - OpenScape SNMP" off the customer portal:
NOTE: It is possible that Internet Explorer may save the files in html format, i.e.,
with html formatting. This makes the file unintelligible for MIB Browsers. To avoid
this, use either Mozilla Firefox or save the file as text and rename it to “*.mib” if
necessary.
Not sure if it'll help your cause or not, but I figured it sounds kinda like what you may be experiencing.

Thanks for looking it up! I'm editing the .mib files using notepad++ which is kind of designed around coding stuff and makes an excellent overall editor. The problem with the OPENSTAGE-MIB.txt file I have is that 1) MIB requires the sections in the file to be in a certain order and they were not, 2) My impression is that someone may have been using MS-Word as their editor when they created the file because many of the variables are required to start with a lowercase letter and all these started with a capital letter similar to what happens when you press enter in a word processor, 3) I have run the file through a syntax checker and it is now syntactically correct, but the compiler doesn't want to parse the file and I don't know enough to understand why yet. I have 3 other .mib files I got off the system that compile in file, but they are all for the 4K or the HG35xx boards - I will eventually go after that stuff, but I was hoping to map out the phones. Spiceworks has no provision for you to add 3rd party .mib files, and I downloaded another one that says it will but got hung up on some of the initial setup stuff before getting busy and distracted again.

There are MIB files available for downloading for phones.
Which phones do you need the MIB files for ?

OS 40 and 60 HFA and 60 SIP would be awesome! I don't have anything else IP yet.

Don they are in the OpenStage folder on Tonido
They are from the latest versions so hopefully they will be OK ?
Let us know how you get on

Also I have changed the file extension to dot MIB
Maybe it should be dot ASPX, not sure

Thank you! I will look at them and see what they are. I'm a bit confused by the comment about changing the extension. If they started out as ASPX files those are webserver script files (I think). I will know once I look at the content, and I will keep everyone up to date )

I looked at the OPENSTATGE.mib file - that is an html file (web page). I know this isn't your first rodeo, but wondering if there was any kind of instruction file that maybe said to load these in something to create the actual files, or I assume you clicked on "Create list for download manager" and then just right clicked and saved them the way they were?

It's possible they are for OpenScape Voice or the 8000. Aren't those web-based?

Thanks Again!

Sorry for the triple post. I actually suspect I know what happened, as I have done it myself MANY times! I changed the extension to .html and opened the file. What is in the file is the text from the download page where you have to click the checkbox before it lets you download the files. I think you downloaded that webpage instead of the actual files.

Just a suggestion from the month or two I had access... After you put the checkmark in that box another screen should come up. One of the links on that screen is "Get List for download manager". Click on that, and then it will give you the actual files, which you can then right click on and download/save. That should get the actual files!)

DOH !
Downloading them again.
OK they look like mib files now...
Will upload shortly

Right Don - those files are there now.
Please let me know how you get on.
I am interested to hear how your SNMP is going, I would like to try it out.

I will grab them and see what I can do - got a bit busy here yesterday. I am hoping that windows will accept them and they will "compile in". Windows has one file MIB.bin that is a compilation of the individual source files. You can get the compiler if you download the Windows Resource Toolkit for Server 2003 (also works with Win7).

If it works using the NetworkView software that I got off of here I might resurrect Spiceworks and see if that makes use of the same file, which would be really cool. I got one of my STMI boards set up for read access for community "voiphdw" and it can access that, but doesn't provide much data. Those boards are a real challenge - I am hoping when I finally push out V7R2 that the firmware kit replaces the WBM scripts with something that will work in a newer version of Java - otherwise I have to use a special laptop I have fromzen in time. I don't know what's going to happen moving forward if Unify keeps using Java - it's getting harder and harder to bet a browser to work for maintenance. I'm using Firefox, which isn't on the happy list, but gives a MUCH better experience than IE, except the memory leak drives me crazy. Chrome won't run Java and I found out Opera seems to be Chrome with a different name....

We shall see!

Are there, perchance, any *.my files in the same general area as those MIB files?? Possibly with similar names? Of the ones you got, you can actually reduce the files down to 4 if you want to save space: OPENSTAGE-MIB, CORNETPHONE-MIB, SIPPHONE-MID and QDC-MIB - all those versions are the same. Still have the issue with being able to compile them as they are loaded with syntax errors. I have the HG3550.my file - I think that has variable definitions in it.

Thanks!

I run virtual machines on Win 7 Using Microsoft Virtual XP and a program called XPMore which gives me multiple virtual XP's
Each XP version can then be configured for the required HiPath or other System versions with Java versions etc.

As for the mib files that's it, there are no .my files either.

Thanks for checking though! I have one more application I want to try them on. I got it mostly installed but was having issues with one config step before I got incredibly busy....
