I have been troubleshooting this one for awhile. When customers are on calls, they periodically hear a "clicking" sound. I have heard it as well, and it honestly sounds like you are on a call and someone clips on with their butt set. There are 24 lines in the system, and it is not exclusive to any trunk cards or even station modules. I renamed all the lines and had the customer keep a log of what lines they were on when they heard the clicking. It is all over the board. Any ideas/known issues?? Thanks in advance.

Is this a T1 if so it sounds like you have clocking problems.

I'd rather just fix the problem. No one else has anything?

Have you monitored the lines in front of the system to see if you still hear the clicking?

I would check grounding, check to see if this is a dedicated circuit, and if not check the other components that are sharing the line power, check the backup system for surges and I recommend monitoring the lines in front of the system like Johnjdefongi recommended. It is not nailed down to one area, so that makes it harder to diagnose.

Thanks to all. I have monitored the lines in front of the MICS and did not here the clicking, but then jumped back on the line through the system and didn't hear it either. So who knows. I hate key systems.

Anyone know the procedure for replacing a KSU, but keeping the same software? I seem to remember something about regression codes? Thanks in advance.

If lines are all copper and you are keeping the same software module... back up with a RAD, remove software module, replace KSU, reinsert software. It should come up with all programming intact. If not load your back up.
