Hello, all! I've recently been delegated to support my company's Nortstar-PLUS telephone system, with absolutely no training. I'm having some issues currently that are beyond my scope.

If two users on the telephone system check their voicemails at the same time, or one or more users check their voicemail while another user is currently checking theirs, the phone system provides a "callpilot busy" error.

In addition, if our operator is checking the general delivery voicemail box, no other user may check their voicemails during that time, as well.

Any help on what may be causing this issue would be greatly appreciated!

This is the sign that you do not have enough vmail channels or there is a problem with one or more channels.

1. Your neen to post your Voice Mail system model or the software version (via F983/9)
2. Does Voice Mail answer calls right away with main greeting or Human, or does it answer as a backup after so many rings?

Thanks for the quick response, curlycord! This issue just started appearing, which is pretty odd.

I don't know how to check the firmware version, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I've a CallPilot 100 box next to the main box.

In addition, the Callpilot 100 has a PCMCIA card in it that has the following information on it:

N0010109 2005/06/03
NT5B82DQ Rel 02 0004
CP100 3.0 NAENQ/SP

There is also a Norstar FastRAD box that doesn't seem to be hooked up anything.

Call Pilot 100
Comes with 4 channels
This means only 4 userts can use vmail at same time be it people checking messages or people calling in listening to main greetings or leaving messages.

Each jack provides 2 channels (one on each pair/crossconnect) so you should see 4 jumpers connected to the phone system so make sure all are connected.

F983 is admin programming
When logged into F983 you can get the version by pressing 9

You need to answer my second question still.

Curlycord,

Firmware is CP 30.00.75.22

Voicemail operates as a backup after about five rings.

Sorry Curlycord, I'm sure you meant 2 jumpers for a cp 100.
2 ports for cp100, 4 ports for a cp150.

Also, yes, there are two phone lines leading out of the CallPilot, each with four wires. The two lines lead into a jumper box labeled "flash 1" and "flash 2," which then are hooked up to the phone block.

Yes 2 jumpers to phone system sorry.

You best test is when system is more or less idle at 5pm?
Get 4 people and see if they can all get into mailbox at same time.
If yes system is fine and you are just a busy company!!!

Only options are to make sure reception answers calls when ever possible or upgrade to a Call pilot 150 where you can have 8 people using at once.

Is is the nature of this system that if a user is checking the General Delivery mailbox that it locks everyone else out from checking their voicemail?

Nope. You might need to reboot your CallPilot or at least test your two ports with a telephone.

I'm sure the answer is "no," but will I lose any saved data if I power cycle the CallPilot?

I would never guarantee that. The proper response is "You shouldn't" [thumbsup2]
