I do not know if this has been done yet. I got the idea from the thread started STC, thread1229-1370254, "Just three words."

So, I got to thinking: What about building a word!

So, here's the game: I'll start it with just one letter. Then, different people can add a new letter to the word with each post in order to make a new word.

Here are the rules:
[ol][li]ONLY One letter per post can be added to the word. Type the new word, including your new letter.[/li]
[li]The new letter can be added/inserted at any place in the word[/li]
[li]The original letters MUST stay in the same order as before - even though you can add the new letter at any location, all others must remain intact (other than being split up by the new letter).[/li]
[li]No special characters: no dashes, etc.[/li]
[li]So as to avoid confusion, please underline the new letter, and the rest of the word in normal type.[/li]
[li]As in the 3 word thread, no double-postings.[/li]
[li]No profanity.[/li]
[li]Proper nouns (aka names of people, places, things) are allowed, so long as a reference can be provided for such. Please post a reference for any proper nouns.[/li]
[/ol]

Example thread series:
[ul][li]Post 1: e[/li]
[li]Post 2: be[/li]
[li]Post 3: bed[/li]
[li]Post 4: bead[/li][/ul]

This will be the RULES and DIRECTIONS thread only, I'll actually start the game in the very next post. [smile]

[wink] Well it's not the first time someone around here goofed. Even though I'm just wonderfully perfect, I've made a mistake or two or three or...

Hence my sig line. [smile]

stornates

stornates

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But, rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!

Whoa, whoa, whoa...I challenge both "stornates" and "ostornates". I believe that any Google references to either term are ersatz forms of "stomates" and "ostomates"...The reason Google found them is because of references in ".pdf" files where the graphic (pixelated) representations of "rn" and "m" are too close to distinguish.

I'm willing to retract my objection if anyone can post a scholarly definition of "stornates" or "ostornates".

So, under these circumstances, are we good to go with "some dead guy's name" and "a made up name for people who are members of an ostomy association"?

...or are we done with Round 1 and ready for Round 2?

Well, given that Stornates is apparently a "proper name", it would fit in the rules, so it is okay.

Ostornates was sort of a proper noun (I guess) that was given to people who carry around some sort of baggies they have to empty.. to me, it was sounding like it contains their bowel movement stuff - maybe? So, it sort of counts. [wink]

So, can anyone come up with anything to add to:

ostornates

??

If not, by tomorrow, I guess we'll call this one, and maybe someone can start a new one?

Santa,

I truly found ostornates in google, but even though it only found 3 entries and two of them point to the URL cjelec posted, I did not though it was due to OCR errors or a typo. I think we often will end up with names or nouns and these may be in some area like medicine and others, where there are many special terms...

So, I'm not claiming the last word, I did not know it, I just found it trying vocals in front of stornates.

Bye, Olaf.

Hmmm..

Okay, then, ostornates retracted.

We're back to stornates

[wink]

Its someones name again in (Note, its a Doc file):
Google search (for html version):

I tried to find the next word last night, but couldn't find anything at all. I don't know if that is the end of round one?

I think that there is one problem with this game, due to people posting at the same time as someone else, It starts to go in different directions very quickly.
