"Barge In" button 1

Can anyone tell me how to use this feature? We had a situation tonight where the hospital was trying to reach a guest and he was on the phone-while we were able to send someone to his room to get him, the lost time may have been critical since once he got the call he came down to the lobby and asked for a cab quickly to the hospital. The switchboard operator tried taking a loop and using it, then tried just transferring the call and using the button and then tried just calling the room and using the button and nothing worked.
 
1.get the dialtone.
2.dial the extension number
3.if the person is busy you will get busy tone
4.then press Override Key



Think Globally, Act Locally
 
Problem is this will not work if the user has forward to voicemailon busy. Then you will go straight to VM and not get the busy tone.

On an Att console you want break in not barge in. Barge in is for testing trunks, Break in is for overiding a phone that has activated call forward or is on an existing call.
also the phone you are trying to break in on must Warning tone allowed (WTA) in the class of service.

On a meridan digital phone you want overide, it works basically the same.
