During a call to Avaya tech support last week I learned a tip that I thought I'd pass along to y'all.

In addition to the default IP address for the IP 406 (192.168.42.1) there is another: 192.168.42.3

I was doing some work via DTE port and tested this by creating a new bootp entry using ...42.3 as the IP address for the box with the correct MAC address. Sure enough, bin files loaded as expected!

Hope this tidbit helps someone out down the road!

Does it stay as 192.168.42.3 if you change the base IP address from 192.168.42.1 to something completely different?

I got news for you:

You can use any IP address you like in the BOOTP, your PC must in the same range.
If you then delete the software IPO will get the ip address from the BOOTP.

This is default behaviour of the BOOTP protocol.

DTE resetting an 401ng (small office) may often result in the IPO gets 192.168.42.10 so you have to set up bootp with that address. Happened to me several times.

When defaulting an IP office it will deceicve you and state that the ip addresss is 192.168.42.6 sometimes 42.3 as well...Dont be fooled young padowan this is not the case...this is the jedi masters original ip address of the original ip office when designed.....and not a back door...
