Hello.

Does anyone know if, somewhere in the world, someone is working on
some kind of Artificial Intelligence which would use a web based
database system such as mySql?
I would be curious to know that (please, send any URL related to this.)

Thinking about how such a project would work, I guess it wouldn't
get close to a "real" A.I, but I am sure it could manage to give
some interesting feedback if you store and use in some sort of way
all the inputs from the people who interact with the system.

What's your opinion?

Have a nice day, you all.

Not clear what you mean. Yes, some people including myself are using AI on data stored in mysql databases
(not in a web app though) . You can look for AI
algorithms on the web (weka, for instance), but this is not mysql -specific

good luck, svar

Hello Svar.

You're right, my quesion was not clear enough.
I was talking about a Database Driven "Artificiel Intelligence", what would be able to interact with visitors of the web site by chatting with them.

Each input from a user would be interpretated on the server, filtered, stored in the database (let's call it the memory
of the system) and the Database would give feedback by using some basic grammar, vocabulary and user's inputs stored in the Database. This would give the illusion it can "sort of" discuss with humans.

That was my idea. I know it's a huge amount of work that's why I was wondering if someone else has already started such a project.

Have a good day.

MYSQL is thought of as web specific because that is where many seem to use it. It is no more/less geared to the web than any other.

As for A.I., one organization claimed to have one as intelligent as a 3 year old, last I heard. This is patently absurd. Besides, if it were really that smart, it could learn all by itself just by normal interaction. Alas, Human infants have been underestimated for Eons, so they don't even realize what they are up against. And WHO wants a system that could "give the illusion it can "sort of" discuss with humans. "?

In short, the only A.I. systems *I* have seen that are decent are EXPERT systems. These are the equivalent of Human Idiot savants.(Ok, even THERE the humans tend to do better.) They are MORONS in nearly everything, like normal systems(able to do things only with a lot of handholding), but are GENIUSES at what they were meant to do.

Hello Steve.

You are 99% right in all you said but there is something
you didn't think about:
You could create such a system for fun only instead of trying to create something really smart enough (which is impossible like you said). I clearly said : "give the ILLUSION it can discuss...".

Of course mysql can be used for almost any purpose, but, using the system on the web is the better way to allow a huge quantity of people to add data into it.
I've never heard about such a system, that's why I started this thread.

Have a good day.
