"Alert Me" problem

FYI - the Exchange problem I mentioned in this thread has also been fixed now.
It ends up that the users outlook profile has to be set up differently to how I had it.
Under the connection tab of the profile there is a tick box for Connect to my exchange mailbox using http.
Then I had to click on Exchange Proxy settings (even though there is no proxy server) In the use this URL box I entered of my mail server>
Tick the on slow networks connect using http first
Then change the proxy authentication method to Basic Authentication.
I'm only posting it to help someone else out if they run into this problem. And because I'm so happy I had to tell everyone...
