Quiet switch?

Hello

I am interested in picking up a Cisco switch for my home lan. I would like to find a managed switch that is quiet. Does such a thing exist? How noisy are the 2950’s?

They're all about as noisy as the fan. if you get one with just one fan in it, it shouldn't be that bad.

Thanks for the reply. Are the fans in the 2950's any quieter than the average workstation?

Not that im aware, all fans generally draw the same kind of power and spin at the same rate. Some are just louder because the bearings wear out over time, or, they have bigger fins. For this application, All would be about the same. You will barely know its there, and you might enjoy the ambient white noise it produces :)
