Recently my QuickTime player will not start when the icon is double-clicked. This applies to both the QT icon in the taskbar and any QT files already on my system. Right-clicking on the taskbar icon to bring up the menu and using it to install updates works temporarily, but after a short time the problem recurs. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and even uninstalled and removed every instance of QT from the registry, and inevitably the problem comes back after a short time. Streaming files from the Web seem to work with no problem, it only seems to occur when using saved .mov files. I'm running Windows XP.

I am running XP and have exactly the same problem.
I hope someone knows how to resolve this problem.
Thanks

I too have this weird one! I can play quicktime movies straight from a memory card or digital camera but when the file is saved to a directory on my computer I get the error message "cannot not play as file is not found"
