how do you make a quicktime movie that runs on a mac, run on a pc, in other words, is it true that a quicktime movie is not cross platform ? if so, how can we convert a quicktime movie to something viewble on the pc ?

With the Quicktime player properly installed on the computer you are using your Quicktime movie should run fine on either platform. To run it through a browser you need the proper QuickTime plug-in installed in the browser's plug-ins folder.
To my knowledge there is no such thing as a Mac or PC QuickTime movie. It is platform non-specific

If you're authoring a quicktime you have to set the corretct gamma levels (brightness) for whether you intend to view it on mac or PC -
but it'll still play on either platform - one may look rather dark and dingy though.

I was told that I needed to save the file as a self contained movie for it to be viewed on a PC. That however has not solved the problem, but it is apparently one of the things one needs to do.

I was then told: 1) For video, try using the 3IVX codec. It's a true Mac/PC cross platform codec
2) For audio, try using AIFF - since Windows does recognize this audio format

But I don't see an AIFF option for the audio in QuickTime Pro, and I did purchase 3IVX and have used it, but have not had success yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - also how to make the file size smaller.
