quicktime installed but doesnt work for online videos

often i run across a video online that says "click here to download plugin" which then finds i need quicktime, and says its a manual install. ive installed the same version of iunes/qtime countless times and any video on the web that uses qtime says this. any thoughts as to why this could be or what i could do about it? thanks.

Well, yes, it has to be done manually - which I agree is a bit of a pain, but that's the way it is.

yes i know it has to be done manually, but what im saying is that even with quicktime installed and working, it doesnt work on the web for playing QT movies.
