Quicktime - Bad Atom Error

I did post this in the appl quicktime forum but no one goes on it.

I'm running vista ultimate x86 and i have the latest itunes and quicktime installed. I recently changed hard drive and on my new hard drive when i try opening some of my mp4's in quicktime i get a bad atom error. Now i know for a fact they work, they open fine in wmp and on my other pc in quicktime so they aren't corrupted in any way what so ever. It's just frustrating that it's took me ages to build up my mp4 collection and they won't work with itunes or quicktime anymore, therefore i can't copy them to my ipod.

Anybody have any idea's? Help much appreciated!!!

i've searched page after page on google mate, no luck.

I've come to a conclusion that it's something to do with sata drives and vista. I have two sata drives, 320gb and 250gb, the mp4's will not work on them but if i have the mp4's on my other 160gb ide hard drive they work fine, no errors. So they work on my ide hard drive but not my other 2 sata's, a bit annoying as i'm trying to get rid of ide as sata is the new thing.

I was not aware of any such problem prior to your posting, the 5 minutes I spent looking at Google suggests some sort of compatibility problem between Vista and Quicktime, and as you point out Sata drives.

I suppose you have run ChkDsk /r a hundred times or more?

no all the mp4#s don't work, the only files that work are m4v#s which are similar to mp4, i'm trying to find a program that wuil create m4v's. Quicktime does it but takes forever so need differen software.
