Can you give us more info? Are you saying certain file types try to play in QT instead of MP? Open QT and click edit--preferences--quicktime preferences--under 'file type associations' uncheck the 'windows file types' and internet file types' boxes and see if that fixes the problem.
If not try this. If you want your mp3's (or some other file type) to play in media player then highlight an mp3 file and then right click on it while holding the shift key down and select 'open with' on the menu. On the next screen click once on media player to highlight it then check the "always use this program etc..." box and click ok. That file type should then open in media player by default. You can always change it to another program using the same method. Or you could change the program used to open a file type through folder options under the file types tab.
