quick SMDR and Admin question

I have SMDR and Admin set up fine on my system. Do any of you know if there is a limit as to how long the SMDR and Admin cords can be (if there is any limit)? I'd like to run admin and SMDR cords to my office so that I can view the information and admin the system from my desk, instead of squeezing into the closet with a laptop.

Limit is 50 feet

I have seen them work over 50 feet though.

For over 50 feet Avaya reccomends a set of ADUs

You could also try low capacitance serial cable and keep the 355 AF clost to the system

Ive run SMDR over cat5 network connection a couple hndred feet with no problem .

not sure on the admin connection .

Thanks for your replies. This is for a residential application (my house)so 50 feet should be plenty. Skip555, wow, I never realized it would go that far for SMDR, I guess admin wouldn't go as far because its not only receiving but also sending.

I had a customer with a call acoounting program on a PC in a office a distance from the equipment closet . Just went from the smdr port to the ethernet patch panel , then to a ethrnet jack in his office to the pc .

Im just guesssing the distance from memory but it was over 150'

Skip 555, that's exactly what I was planning to do, we have two ethernet drops to each office, so for mine I'll use one of them for SMDR. Should work great, I'm installing this early next week. Ill let you guys know how it goes.

If it where me I would go ahead and try the admin programing and see what happens .

Yeah, im interested too. I'll definately give that a try as well, I measured the distance to the office, its about 60 feet, so hopefully thats not too far over the limit and admin might work.
