Hi Guys :)

What’s the best way to get BE9.1 to use a 2 drive robot?
Is it best to use the command line interface to control which tape goes to what drive or would i be better using the GUI?

Also BE locks the media access and I have to unlock it before I can remove the media, is it best to run a post backup script or schedule an unlock?

Cheers

Jason

Ok guys forget the first question I've tried both command line and the GUI, they both worked fine. I have shown both to the ops and they prefer the GUI so the GUI it's but any thoughts on the unlock?

To add or remove tapes, use the GUI. On the Device tab, expand your device until you see SLOTS. Click on that and it will display the slots in the right window. Right click on the tape you want to remove and select EXPORT. The robot will move the tape to the mailbox and unlock it. DO NOT CLICK OK UNTIL YOU REMOVE THE MEDIA.

To add a tape, right click the slot, select IMPORT and insert the tape when it gives you the prompt. Again, do not click ok until you insert the media.

Yes you need to run and unlock job on the library everytime you want to change tapes.
After you change them, run a lock job.
Then run an inventory on the tapes you have changed.

Thanks Justin

I've set up an unlock job to run everyday at 9am. this will allow the ops to change the tapes and I've set another job 30 mins before the first backup starts to inv the library. All looks good.

:)

Thanks for the posts guys, most helpful
