I know more about PIX than Checkpoint, any help would be appreciated.

The situation is this. The old network admin changed the VPN password on our checkpoint firewall. Its in a remote location (120 miles away). We have access to the system (we can log into it). How difficult, or how dangerous is it to reset the VPN password for accounts? This system is a critical system and MUST be up. Is there any danger of screwing it up and taking the system down by doing this. Sorry, this may be a silly question but if you dont know squat about something then you end up asking stuff like this :)

I would suspect the system has a GUI like the PIX does with the PDM as well as code (CLI)?

Thanks again!

Jim

Are you refering to VPN user accounts? or a site to site preshare secret?

I'd create a second VPN account, that is a duplicate of the current. Then connect in with that and change the origional vpn account password.
