hello all,

i've been asked to move a large amount of data from an NT4 file server on to a network attached storage device (nas).

Although the nas has no windows os on it, it lives on the domain as a windows 2000 member server. The files are being moved from a domain controller so consequently I can't do and scopy as the nas will have no knowledge of the local groups.

Short of going through the folder structure and manually mapping out the permissions and recreating a duplicate folder structure on the nas before copying is there anything else I can try???

try using Robocopy, its an excellent tool.
One of the options allows you to keep full folder structure and permissions.
