1. Will updating frameworks, I now have 2.2 I think it is, mess up my computer?
2. When I went to the update page it gave me three choices, which one do I choose?

NDP40-KB2600211-x86.exe 42.4 MB
NDP40-KB2600211-x86-IA64.exe 73.0 MB
NDP40-KB2600211-x86-x64.exe 67.1 MB

Thanks.

Lori

I don't think 2.2 is a version. Check out this article.

Then, if your computer is 32-bit (most XP was 32-bit), you want the x86 version of the product. The others are for different processors.

Determine your XP version - Link

I thought our little wild time had just begun.

But they are all x86, yes I have a 32 bit processor I think, how do I check?

Last link I posted is how to tell 32 vs. 64

I thought our little wild time had just begun.

Just click on 'Start', right-click 'My Computer', then 'Properties'. That info screen will tell you practically everything you need to know about your computer.
Anything you try to install from Microsoft checks your OS version before it installs, so if you try to install a 64 bit anything on a 32 bit OS, it will tell you it can't.

Wrong!! It doesn't tell you 32 or 64 in XP. It does in Vista and 7. Bad advice.

Gee whiz. Unbunch your drawers. Not quite bad advice, maybe a bit incomplete.
XP tells you if it IS 64 bit, it just doesn't specify if it is 32.
From Microsoft:
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

If you don't see "x64 Edition" listed, then you're running the 32-bit version of Windows XP.

If "x64 Edition" is listed under System, you're running the 64-bit version of Windows XP.

DSummZZZ may be correct, see here where it basically says you CAN (indirectly) determine which bit version is running:

Windows XP
If you have Windows XP, there are two methods to determine whether you are running a 32-bit version or a 64-bit version. If one method does not work, try the other method.
Method 1: View the System window in Control Panel

Click Start, and then click Run.
Type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
Click the General tab. The operating system is displayed as follows:
For a 64-bit version operating system, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version < Year> appears under System.
For a 32-bit version operating system, Windows XP Professional Version <Year> appears under System.
Note <Year> is a placeholder for a year.

Better question (unbunching now) - where is the original poster?

I thought our little wild time had just begun.

Sorry I basically repeated DSummZZZ's response from his 2nd post that I didn't read.

Also very happy that goombawaho is all unbunched!!
