We have installed the Avaya Text To Speech option and license, which appears to be ScanSoft's Realspeak. The problem is, we don't believe its actually working. The TTS voice is bad (very robotic), and when you go into Control Panel on the server console, there is no way to change the Voice option because there is no Output Devices available (due to it being a server).

The install of the TTS was very simple, and there did not appear to be any options to select the ScanSoft. The voice in the playback sounds too much like the Microsoft Michelle voice. Anyway to tell that VMPro is actually using the "Jennifer" voice?

Installing Generic Text to Speech
Valid.

The Voicemail Pro installation includes the default Microsoft TTS engines (Microsoft Sam, Mike, Mary and Simplified Chinese) as standard. If another third-party SAPI 5 compatible TTS engine is going to be used, install that software.

Open the Control Panel and click on Speech.

Select the Text to Speech tab.

The installed TTS engines should be listed. Adjust and test the setting to obtain the speech required.

Greetings Peter,
Thats the problem. When I go into Control Panel -> Speech -> Text to Speech TAB, Windows puts up a popup stating that the selected voice cannot be intialized and to select a differnet Audio Output device. With this being a server, there is no sound cards, etc. This happens on any voice (microsoft's or Scansoft's Jennifer).

We are going to put a soundcard in the machine over the weekend to see if it makes a difference.

I had the same problem with a server you need a soundcard.

I could not even install the software without a soundcard.
Did put one in and it worked for me.

Well, the sound card didn't resolve the problem but at least we can select ScanSoft jennifer from the administrator login on the console.

Now I am beginning to wonder if there is an incompatibility issue with Windows 2003 Server (SAPI 5.1) and if the Avaya TTS (scansoft) is using SAPI 4.0.

Yes, at my nowledge TTS no supported by Windows 2003 so i install it on 2000 server.
