Hi there,
I have a newsletter.
I send it to 5,000 people and I want to know who open the mail and who click on it.
So I undersatnd that it's not a problem to know who clicked but How can I know who open it.
I thought to put an img that is taken from my server and then when the user open the mail he "call" my server and take the pic.
But how can I know what is the specific ID that do that?
Or maybe u have another idea?

ACK! ACK!

webbugs -- you do the search, and endanger the privacy of your email readers on your own time --

It's just not a good road to go down, my friend...

I hate to be obstenant here, but I really hope no one carries this thread any further --

Things like this really just burn me up -- there are enough privacy issues and invasions around already without the responsible members of this site furthering attempts to record information about people without their voluntary agreement --

If you want to know how many people open your email, then politely ask them to click on a link, and inform them that their response to the message will be recorded. If they wish to have their email reading habits recorded for later quantification, then I'm sure they would be happy to click on the link --

Anything else is nothing less than sneaky and underhanded (and that's me biting my tongue)

I'm sorry, and it's no offense to you -- I'm sure you've been asked to do it -- it's just that the more I get into computers, the more I see how people's privacy can be invaded -- and I just don't like it.

I agree with link9 as well.
besides, if jumped off of a bridge, would you? :)

Anyways - you could request a return reciept for each email, then process the emails that you recieve. That isn't as intrusive, since the recipient at least gets prompted before sending the email.
