ok guys i want to create a button that on rollover has more buttons inside...

have a look at this :

but because i'm not doing it right when the mouse rolls over the button, the buttons inside go crazy..what i did was create a mc the same size as the original button..
inside that mc has the other buttons..in the overstate of the original button i placed the mc..

ok i know this is wrong so some help to get this right is appreciated..

What are you trying to do here?
Is this it?
I would see a grey square...
On rollover a movie clip becomes visible, and i can click the buttons within this mc...
On roolout the mc becomes invisible and I'm left with a grey square.

If I'm right, guess you have your solution, or must I explain further?

no old the gray square is going to be a movieclip with some animation going on(probably some black and white images alphad, fading in and out of each other...or something..you know me ideas changing everyday)...when the mouse rolls over the mc i want it to open up and display some buttons on the inside..actually will be a list of tracks that i'm gona stream in..

That the grey square be a static graphic or an animated movie clip, doesn't really change my answer!

One question: I suppose (even if you might change your mind when I get it working) that you want these 2 movies to overlap exactly? In other words, this first movie opens up revealing the second one (with the buttons) as if it contained it? Pretty easy when the second one opens up outside the area occupied by the first one... But when they sort of overlap, you get a conflict with the overlaping buttons.

this is what i picture..the mc is playing the animation..when the mouse rolls over it it kinda tweens into the the mc underneath it..you know from a big square100% alpha to a little tiny square 0% alpha..revealing underneath it the other mc with the buttons..how about that..what i really want it to do is when the mouse rolls over the mc ends up with a little tiny hole in the middle and tweens out reavealing whats underneath but i haven't made it that far yet..how would you tween something like that..maybe on mouse over break the mc apart and make a little whole inside..then group it back and tween it out..hell i don't know..try the first one..

Ok! Carl... This is what I've got until now. Shifted the select mc to the right to really show that these are two different mcs.
Would have to work on tweening in that select mc rather than just have it pop up or out!

bro thats tight work..was just what i was looking at doing...so are ya sharing the fla?

the tweening in and out would be nice as well..i'm gona need to do that soon any way so that would be useful soon..i want to be able on mouse over have mc's tween into the main timeline and on mouse out i want them to tween out..dave did a fla on this one time..i remember us talkin about it..will have to look and see if i have it..

Carl, this is where I'm at. Got it to tween in/out, but probably because of my coding, this version can easily be tripped and the select mc will sometimes jam on trigger happy moves. Added the reset buttons, until I can have a look at my code and see if I can do something about it. Friends visiting for the next few days, might not have a chance to be around that much!
