Were upgrading our service; staying with same service provider, from a PRI T1 copper to Fiber.

The company is asking if I can make any changes for the cut-over myself. What information do I need from my Service Provider and what questions do I need to ask / get answered to make this as seamless as possible?
I'm also trying to figure out if any or all of these changes are something I can do. We usually make these changes during equipment upgrade/changes.

We're staying with our Avaya/Definity Aura CM / CMM v15.02.1 / 5.2.1; I believe it's on a S8800.

Should any new service be able to connect and work with our current configuration w/o any equipment upgrades on our system?

I have never done a switch over / cut over myself.

Thanks for any advise information you can provide.

The question is "what is the telco providing you". Unless you are converting from ISDN-PRI to SIP (which you really shouldn't do on a CM5.2.1 then they should still be providing you individual T-1 service (even if they have to bring in something like an ADTRAN for DS3 to DS1 conversion).

If the carrier is attempting to upgrade you to SIP you have three options.

1. Don't let them. Staying on DS1 service requires you to do nothing.
2. Install a SIP to TDM gateways such as a Audiocodes M1K.
3. Upgrade to Avaya Aura 7 and add an Avaya Session Border Controller and Session Manager.

Thanks jimbo,

I don't believe we're changing service, just the means to provide it.
I will definitely be asking that question. I do believe they have an Adtran ordered for us.
