I came across an ATX Specification sheet, version 2.2, and read there that a major change was that the main power connector was changed from 20 pins to 24 pins to accomodate "PCI Express" requirements. Are those kinds of psu's compatible with older ATX motherboards? Do the current dual fan enermax psu's have those kinds of connections?

You will probably find manufacturers making both kinds for a while. And no the 24 pin plug will not fit in the 20 pin socket.

Are these ATX psu's with the 24-pin connector still in the drawing boards and have yet to be seen in the market?
