Hi Guys,

I'm trying to clarify what 'material' is considered 'illegal' by Cisco with regards to their Certification exams.

I can’t find the facts for this anywhere. I'm not looking for peoples opinions’ on whether something is morally okay to be using or not. Things like TestKing, to name but one always get lambasted on forums, but are they or their kind actually considered by Cisco to be cheating?

Not looking to start a debate on the rights or wrongs, just looking for a reasoned answer to something that’s always bothered me.

All the best

RockSteadyEddie,

I am not sure that you will see Cisco list products by name but I know that at least Microsoft has filed suit against Test King, Troy Tech and others.

I have taken 6 different Cisco exams and I have seen Test Kings - Test Kings are the EXACT questions from the test with MAYBE a name of a router changed! I think no matter how you look at it - that is not right.

Transender (and some others) has always done the same but the questions are not EXACT - they are like what you will see but they are not an exact copy of the question - that is why Transenders are normally supported by Cisco and Microsoft.

I do not care how people study - I do not like "Paper certs" when someone who has NO BACKGROUND in a subject - learns a bunch of questions and then passes an exam - then they hold themselves out as a certified whatever!

This hurts everyone out there who has experience and a background in a subject or has taken the time to learn something and not just the right answers!

Just my thoughts!

Thanks CiscoGuy, that's what I was looking for.

I remembered that MS had taken action against someone, but wasn't sure how far it had got, or whether other vendors had done likewise, or just considered it to be the nature of the beast.

I was (and will be) looking for some prep questions for Cisco exams, but it's difficult to know what is considered genuine practice questions, and what is basically 'real' questions taken from an exam (which I don't want). I'd been looking at some demos of SelfTest, which seemed pretty good.

I've also met people with 'paper certs', and I think the only way to stop these is by introducing more simulation stuff into exams.

Cheers
