Wasn't sure what forum to post this is, so I thought this might be the best. Let me know if it should go somewhere else.

Q:
I'm trying to modify my old scanner (light went out) and what I'm wanting to know is, if I can wire a switch in somewhere, to make the motor move without a signal coming from the computer.

What I can tell you is that there are 5 wires going to the motor,
black
red
yellow
orange
brown

All the scanner parts are still there and unmodified and I know it will still move because it can still try to scan, just no light.

Its also a Visioneer 6100 USB if that helps.

Any help appreciated!

sory, the motor in your scanner is a stepping motor that is controlled by clock signals to control the speed and direction of the motor. It would take some serious engineering to make it run. hope this is helpful

Ok, at least I know now. Thanks for the info.
