I have finally gotten my client push to install.. But after the install now my clients arent showing up in the console as installed. I have checked allthe machine and SMS is now installed on them. Why would my server install the clients and then not see them as being installed? Any help would be great. Thanks

You may just have to wait a little while longer. The client may still need to run hardware inventory and then report the data back to the server. Once this happens, you will see the correct information in the SMS console.

also, you should refresh the view in your console....

Its been about 45 minutes now. Does it normally take that long to report back? Is it maybe something I dont have running? By defualt is the reporting enabled? Thanks for you reply.

Did you try to force the invenetory on one of your clients yet?

No how do I do that? Sorry I am a neb to this. I am taking an SMS 2003 class next week.

In control panel on the client, double click the systems management icon.

There should be a Actions tab...

Highlight Hardware Inventory Cycle....

Click Initiate Action...

Your done...

I will try.. Is there anyway to do this from the server? Eventually I will be having like 400 systems on SMS and I dont want to have to go to each one individually and do this.

Thanks,

OK... I went to the client machine and there is no Hardware Inventory cycle. It only has Machine Policy Retreval/Eval Cycle and User Policy Retreval/Eval cycle. Is there something that I did wrong on the install? Also I noticed in the Advanced Tab that the Currently assigned code was blank. Is this bad or is it normal since it hasnt been discovered as having SMS yet?

Thanks again for your time..
