Hello All,
Hope everyone here is in good spirits,

I am running HP3000, MPE/ix(5.X) and using Reflection 5.1
to connecty from my windows network through a serial port.
I am having problem connecting to my HP3000.

The only reason I could think of is that, I shifted my hp3000 for the reason of "ISABEL" to a higer place. For which I disconnected the network and connected it back,
but since then I am unable to connect..

can any one know help on this..

I hope some answers from TAW, MATT and others as usual and Thanks guys in advance...

Nickel -

Probably because you opened it and made a change (inadvertently?) with NMMGR. You may want to try to use the backup configuration file by renaming NMCONFIG to something else and then copying NMCBACK.PUB.SYS to NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS (assuming you're using the default names). Alternately, you can go back into NMMGR and try to VALIDATE your configuration (look under the UTILITY menu). You might also want to consider Printing your configuration in case something happens to it or you want to browse it via hardcopy instead of online.

Our startup is a bit different than TAW's:
Code:
NETCONTROL NET=LOOP;START
NETCONTROL NET=LAN;START
NSCONTROL START
[\code]
Replace "LAN" with the Network Interface name you see in NMMGR (in TAW's case, it is LAN1; yours may be different).

It shows,

LAN LAN LANNI LAN LANNI LAN
LOOP LOOP

out of which
the LANNI LAN LANNI LAN are mistakenly created by me, i think, I beleive that should not harm anything??
Or otherwise I need advice to takethem out?
Thanks a lot..

Try the instructions from Glenn (below), your Network Interface for the Local Area Network is LAN, instread of LAN1 like mine.

NETCONTROL NET=LOOP;START
NETCONTROL NET=LAN;START
NSCONTROL START

Nickel,
Those extra interfaces shouldn't hurt anything. Let's get your LAN Network Interface started, then we'll setup your system so the LAN Network Interface starts when it boots, and then we'll clean up the NMCONFIG file.

TAW

Glenn,
I rename NMCBACK.PUB to NMCONFIG.PUB and opened it thru NMMGR, and found the LIST NETWORK had no connections listed in there. It was empty. Should I go back to my old file?
or IS IT EASY TO CREATE A NEW CONFIGURATION than FIXING MY OLD ONE???

I think I am stuck..

Nickel,
Before you renamaed NMCBACK to NMCONFIG, did you try NSCONTROL START & NETCONTROL START commands for LAN?

Yes I tried,
NSCONTROL START & NETCONTROL START and it returned me an error message, That is when I got ,
Configuration file not valid (NETXPORTERR 4061)

Do you have a recent backup to restore NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS?

I renamed the old file, I disconnected everything again and connected back again, and I am able to Talk to it from Windows...

I seriously Think it is a cable/connection problem...
THANKS ALL for all your help to solve this..
it feels like I learned a lot from you experts..
Thanks once again

Yes Glenn , I have to think about taking a back up of NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS now..

Thanks Very much
