Hi,

I am looking into a fax solution for our IP Office 412 (with T1 and PRI). We've looked at several products, including MultiTech's FaxFinder and GFI Faxmaker. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with either and if one is better than the other as far as integration with the IP Office.

Thanks!

I just put in the MultiTechs Fax Finder on an IPO 406V2 3.1 and it works well. Just follow the instructions and you should have no problem. I had to call the fax finder tech support once to know where to put the specific I.P. address for the mail server and gateway. After that, no problem.

Thanks. Installed the Fax Finder 2 port unit this week and it works great with the IPO.

I just attempted and failed miserably to migrate a customer off a Toshiba to an IPOffice 412, they had a working GFI fax server connected to the Strata with a T1, but for the life of me I could not get that same connectivity going with the 412. Worked internally but never external. Tried to call support but got the "unsupported" speech and was basically told to go analog. So for my 2cents worth, go Faxfinder.
Multitech came out with an 8 port model last month so you have more choices for larger customers

Why would you ever go the GFI Fax maker the thing costs 4 times as much as the multi-tech faxfinder. I have been selling those faxfinders like mad.

JML2665 I have integraded fax servers over T1 before and it worked great. let me know if i can help.

Fax Finder does not support PDF format. Try receiving a 20 page fax in TIFF format. Its about 20MB.

JML2665 - we have used the Faxmaker on several different phone systems including the IP Office with no problems inbound or outbound. What type of fax board are you using? is it analog or T1 interface? Are you using T1 or PRI? are you looking to route faxes via DID?

I know they are adding .pdf in the next month with firmware, by the way I have one in house and I know the files are not 1MB per page. They are about the same file size as a .pdf, the .pdf is just more common.

has anyone tried using the fax finder to send faxes as well as receive? I set up a FF100 for a customer last week. It was simple enough, but according to the co-branded Multitech/Avaya documentation, there was nothing on how to set up sending of fax messages.

Sending requires a "print driver" be loaded on each PC that needs to fax. Load driver, provide the IP address of FaxFinder, couple other little things and you're good to go.
Mike
