Hi everyone, I am a newbie here as well as to win2000 server. I need help :) After installing ADS only to realize win98 clients cannot connect to home directory on the server. I put a simple login script on the sysvol to test if win98 can connect to any of the share folders I created:

net use s: \\server\share
net use I: \\server\apps
net use H: \\server\home\%username%

the S: and I: drives were successfully mapped, but the user can only connect up the "Home" folder where all usernames reside. From here he can look for his username and go to it. Can someone help me to map successfully to the "username" within the "Home" directory? anything help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe that is a limitation of Windows 98, although someone else may know other.

BTW, in the 'Clients' folder on the Win2K Server CD there is an AD client specifically for Win98 machines that will give them better access to an AD and it's features. You may wish to test it out and consider implementing it.

Hi gbiello, thanks for responding. I forgot to mentione I did install AD client for win98, but didn't have any success.

Try the following in the login script.

net use h: /HOME

This only works on 95 and 98 clients, 2k automatically maps the home folder to the drive you specify.
