I need some tips&tricks or some kind of lowlavel software to access to mers 8600. I don't know u/p, and I don't wish to reset pass to default.
Any help?

The passwords are stored in a hidden file in the flash, without access its unlikely you'll be able to get at it and even with access its encrypted so I'm not sure how much value it'd be. The only other option would be to connect with another method (Device Manager via SNMP), or to double-check that none of the user names are still at their default values (there are about a half dozen default accounts.)

How connect Device Manager via sntp. What traps can show me?

ok, question is:"How to grab config without pass?

If you've got two CPUs and if the configs are properly sync'ed between them you could reset the backup CPU, it shouldn't cause any problems but of course nothing is risk-free...

If you want to do that: connect to the CPU console port with your favorite terminal program, make sure you can get a login prompt, re-seat the backup CPU (its master light will always be off), stop its boot when you see the countdown, at the monitor prompt, copy the config:
cp /flash/config.cfg /pcmcia/config.cfg
and then 'pcmcia-stop'. You should be able to read the PCMCIA flash on your laptop. If you don't have a flash card you can get a compact-flash to PCMCIA converter and any formatted compact-flash card will work.

If you've only got one CPU or if the configs are not sync'ed between them restarting the primary CPU and reseting the passwords from its monitor prompt may be your only option. Good luck.

tnx for answer

Some low lavel software, back door access?

There is no "backdoor" to the ERS8600 switch or the MERS8600 switch. If you don't have the username/passwords you'll need to physically reset the passwords by booting into the boot prom on the CPU as Anthony suggested above.

i think the safest procedure and more efficient is what anthony suggest, you should give it a try.
