Hello,

I'm going to upgrade 1 IPO Server Edition + 1 Expansion from 9.1.10.0 Build 192 to last available version, R11.1 SP1.

I would like you to validate the update process :

1- Upgrade licences to R11 (licences are already PLDS) and inject it on the SE

If I understood right, I need to upgrade to 10.1 for SE, while I can go directly to R11 for IPO500V2, isn't it ? So :

2- Upgrade SE to 10.1.0.8
3- Upgrade SE to 11.0.4.4
4- Upgrade SE to 11.1 (via Application Server procedure)
5- Upgrade IPO500v2 to 11.1 directly

Please tell me if something is wrong.

Thanks,

The expansion systems are upgraded from web manager, so you can upgrade the primary server to 10.1 SP8, upgrade the expansion system to 10.1 SP8 via web manager, then do the same for 11.0.4 SP4. I haven't attempted any 11.1 SE upgrades, but to my understanding the expansion can be upgraded to 11.1 via web manager once the primary server has been upgraded, its just the Linux servers that have the more involved upgrade process to get to 11.1.

according to the GA release document for R11 you can upgrade from 9.1; 10.0 or 10.1 directly to R11

so your path for the server would be
9.1 (right now)
11.0.4.4
11.1.1

the IP 500 you are correct can be upgraded to 11.1.1 directly

Thanks @Westi for you answer.

As I don't want to test the thing on the client's installation and be prepared for it, I will perform the migration on an offline vm from R9.1 to R11.0.4.4.

Indeed, the documentation has evolved and it seems that the latest IP Office releases allow this direct migration.

I'll keep you informed.

@westi

Could you send me link to documentation you found about :

?

Because in doc GlobalIPOfficeTechnicalBulletinR11.0.4.4.0_226, they say :

So I doubt ...

Upgrade Instructions for IP Office Server Edition and Application Server
If using a DVD install of this release of IP Office Server Edition and Application
Server, you can upgrade directly from the previous GA release (9.1, 10.0 or 10.1).
For further information, please refer to the “IP Office Application Server 11.0
Installation and Maintenance” and the “Upgrading” section of the “Deploying IP Office
Server Edition Solution” manual available from the IP Office Knowledgebase.
Warning: In all cases, always backup all application data to a separate location
before upgrading.
If you are upgrading IP Office Server Edition and Application Server and will be using
Web Manager, please read the following guidelines. Note: If your system is already
running IP Office 9.1 software, this section is NOT applicable. It is ONLY applicable
for systems running either IP Office release 8.1 or 9.0 software.

Hello,

Thank you [2thumbsup]. That is what I thought. This documentation refers to "IP Office R11.0.0" and not 11.0.4.4.

After hours of search I found I have to go through a mandatory level in R11 SP2 before going to R11.0.4.4.

Like someone got problems with big gap using webmanager ISO upgrade, I decide to upgrade via USB Bootable key.

Migration is tomorrow...
