Is there a way to retract a bezier control handle as you are drawing a shape with the bezier tool or pen tool? For instance, in Illustrator and Freehand I can just click again on the current point I have just drawn and it will retract the leading control handle. So far I have not found a way to do this in version 11. Obviously this makes drawing with the pen/bezier tool more difficult and less intuitive than in Illustrator or Freehand. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks!

I am not familiar with Freehand or Illustrator, so I cannot compare the results you are seeing with what you want verses what you are getting. There is no "click" option for reducing the handle that I know of, but you can click on the line, and drag it to the inteded curve. This does not work for S curves - but mostcurves can be drug to a rouch arc shape, then fine tunned by the handles. I don't know if this will save you any time or not, but something to consider.

when you're drawing with the bezier tool, when you click to make a node just keep the mouse button held down... then you can drag it to make the arc change shape. is that what you're referring to?

It's kind of hard to explain. The basic problem is that there seems to be no way to get a cusp node as you are in the process of drawing a shape with the bezier tool. You are limited to either straight or smooth nodes. Then you have to go back with the node editor to make a node a cusp after finishing the shape. Basically drawing/tracing with the bezier tool becomes a two step process rather than a one step process. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to retract a bezier control handle if you are drawing from a curved segment to a straight segment.

I guess it's probably hard for people to understand what I'm talking about unless you've used Illustrator or Freehand. You also have to have used the pen/bezier tool A LOT to get what I'm talking about. Anyway, thanks for the responses. I appreciate your taking the time to reply.

I'm experience in Illustrator and very experienced with Corel. This is one thing Illustrator has on Corel. Shame.
