Can any one tell me which typefaces are propotional spaced and which are fixed spaced. Can we make all typefaces fixed spaced using fixed spacing command in PCL???

Internal Printer Fonts...

Courier, Letter Gothic, and Line Printer are fixed pitch.

All the rest are proportional.

There is no command to make a proportional font fixed pitch, however, I suppose you could issue a positioning command for every character a force a consistent spacing.

Jim what would be the result if I use <esc>(s0P fixed spacing command with <esc>(s16602T a typeface family that is proportional spaced i.e., Arial????

You would get a fixed pitch font, probably Courier.

Understand that the font commands only SELECT from those that are available. The do not create it as such.

In your example, there in no fixed pitch Arial font, so the printer will do its best to fill your request. As the spacing has the highest priority in font selection, the printer will narrow the list to the available fixed pitch fonts, and then evaluate them on remaining criteria.
