So I just finished creating a document with 85 images that took me two days, all in 200 dpi. now I find out that the printer requires it to be 300 dpi.
any way to change this with one command in the whole document, or do I have to start over in photoshop, resize each image and make the whole document from scratch?
any help or ideas is greatly appreciated!

The only way to “up” the resolution is to resize the images down. This can be seen by showing the indesign Info window and looking at the “effective ppi” in that window when you select an image. As you resize it down, the effective ppi goes up.

Hopefully, you have retained the photoshop images at a higher resolution than 200. You cannot simply increase the resolution of any raster image unless you downsize it. All images for print output should be kept at a minimum of 300 dpi. Higher resolution certainly doesn’t hurt as it allows you more flexibility for future editing. It’s usually easiest and best to leave “resample image” unchecked when reducing the physical (print) size of an image in photoshop. The resolution will then go up as you reduce the size.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

yes - thanks so much. I realize I should have saved them all at 300 for print.
a mistake I won't make again - at least redoing a document is much faster the second time around!
