Hello All,

I currently system admin to 4 Solaris box, as there was only four boxes all the monitoring I did was just logging onto each box and check over the systems (message log disk space etc). But now we've been taken over by a new company and there system admin has left and now I has reasonability for 20 new boxes over 4 different locations. My question is do you guys have any suggestion of how to monitor all these servers (Without having to login to each one).

Thanks

I use nagios ( ) to monitor my servers.

Relative easy to setup and can check several parameters (disc, cpu, ram, load ......, look at availabel plugins).

We used to use Big Brother made by quest software, easy to setup and administer. Nice gui too. I'm not sure if this is licensed these days.

I use something called groundworks opensource.

It actually uses nagios as the monitoring system but has a nice web interface engine along with other goodies. It is easy to use. It is easy to setup clients to be monitored, nagios can be a little cumbersome if you use it Nagios by itself, At my last job we used nagios directly.
