I would like to automate the exporting of a report which I need to get into excel on a regular basis. That I know of, the only way to do this is through the export to a tab delimmitted file. Is this correct?

If so, is there any plugin for filemaker or way that I may specify the export terms rather than just the last export order? Also is there any way to get column headers when exporting to a tab delimitted file? get's confusing when you have so many items without headings.

Thanks so much for your help!

Matt

You should be able to export to a "sylk" (symbolic link) file instead of comma delimited, This type of file will open directly into Excel without an additional import step.

1. Problem with using SLK is that EXCEL does some weird things with some fields - gets confused with dates, etc.
2. The EXCEL import step was not an issue in this question and it is trivial anyway.

3.To answer the question - sort of.
I do not know of any way to get the headers/fieldnames.
You can export any set of fields in any order by going to
File->Export.... specify them.

Cheers,
Paul J.
