Hi all,

We have a cisco switch and all ports are currently used up.
Is their a command/program I can use to query the switch so that I can find out what ports have not been used for a long time etc. As some may not be in use anymore.
And I dont feel like tone tracing all the ports :)

Thanks

If they are not being used, wouldnt the link light on the front of the switch be off, or the ports show as up,down?

sh int would show when the counters were last cleared---might give you an indication./ Compare this with sh ver (switch uptime)...

MrNick0483 - You are right, but it doesnt tell me if the port is not in use, someones pc might just be turned off at the time. So i need to see that if a port is off on the switch, how long has it been off for.

Burtsbees - I'll have a play with comparing those and see if it give me a good indication.... I'll get back to you

If its a 4500 series then you can use "show interfaces link" and this will tell you the last time it was used, why they don't use this on all their switches is beyond me.
