Is it possible to query LDAP for its attributes/fields?

I don't have a clear picture of all the fields at the moment, and I would like the query to return all fields that are available, so I know what to reference.

Is this possible? Thanks! Take Care,
Mike

I'm not quite sure if this will help you or not depending on your needs. As I am currently aware these fields may vary. First off depending on your schemas, then attributes that are specified with the object classes within that schema.

For example if using OpenLDAP you might just have the core.schema currently installed, you might then notice an object class called 'person', with this 'person' object class it has been assigned certain 'must' and 'may' attributes. That would then be the available fields for an object in LDAP to use, but an object in LDAP may use multiple object classes. So depending on which object classes are used for that object (ie. Organizational Unit, Organization, Domain, Container etc) the available fields may vary.

Hope this helps,
