Hi,

I have a query with five tables -- all of them non-updatable linked ODBC.

The results of my query are about 1900 rows and 42 columns. Everything is great except...

When I try to dump the query into Excel the whole DB crashes.

I have tried to limit the results and do a piecemeal transfer into Excel but I still crash.

Any ideas? Does it have to do with the ODBC?

Any help would be appreciated!

How are you doing the dump ?
Any error message ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

PHV,

It just stops.

No error...just "application not responding" from the Windows Task Manager.

I usually use the built-in Tools>Office_Links to dump into Excel. However, when I first tried to find work arounds I tried a selct all records - copy - paste. That too caused the DB to crash.

???

If compacting/repairing the database does not solve the problem you may try converting the query to a make table query and then dump the newly created table to excel.

I took the make table route. It works! Thanks.

Any idea why the query was crashing the DB? Was it too big?
