I need a second name server for my registar. Is it possible to have 2 name servers on the one box?

You generally require 2 name servers when you register your domain.

One is primary, the name server DNS that will be Authoritative for your domain. This can be your ISP's DNS server.

The second one is DNS server that internet users lookup when the primary DNS is NOT available (they can go down too you know!). THis can be your ISP's secondary DNS.

You have to arrange for your ISP to list your hosts in thei DNS Server unless you plan to run your own. I don't believe you can run 2 DNS services on the same box.

sorry, i wasnt very specific. I am running my own DNS and have set one of the name servers as my own. I have tried to create a secondary zone for the second DNS but cant seem to get it to work. I have just used zonedev for the second but want to use my own again.

Thing is, My Primary and only DNS server is also my web server so it wouldnt make a difference if the second went down..
