I have a document that has to have Japanese fonts in it. Will Quark (English Language) handle this, or do I need the Japanese language version and/or an OS that can handle Japanese characters?

If you want to use japanese text entirely in your document then it would be better to go for the japanese version of QuarkXPress.
If you want to use it in the QuarkXPress U.S version then you will have to get a Language kit (Japanese).

Note: All the language kits which Apple makes including japanese are now bundled free with MAc OS 9.x

You can also download a demo version of Japanense QuarXPress for free from the link ...

Hi Martingrau,

Well to have Japanese fonts in QuarkXPress (US English) you need to have a Japanese OS along with a Japanese Language kit.

But personally I would suggest you go for the Japanese version of QuarkXPress (Latest version Japanese QuarkXPress 4.1)

Check out this link :

Hope this helps.

Thanks to both of you.

The folks who were asking this question are thinking of going another way anyway--the learning curve on Quark intimidated them into looking at other solutions. But now we know for the future
