Quark to Word

Hi there, looking for ideas regarding turning a Mac Quark file into a PC Word 2000 File. Client wants to be able to have a template in word to change the text in the brochure. I can do the Word part from scratch, but I was hoping that there was a clever way to get the Quark file over to Word without loss of formatting.

Hi Dawn

Not that I know of.

The best method would be to invest in and utilise Acrobat Distiller to produce pdf files which the client can then mark with amendments in Adobe Acrobat.

The only way I know of is the to highlight the text-- SAVE TEXT under FILE menu. Save it as a RTF file without Quark tags. This might help. Let freedom ring!

Alfral is absolutely right (he always is), if the client only wants to see text and not layout. Actually cllients should never have layouts even started until YOU have fully approved text. There is nothing worse than labouring over design aspects only for the client to make radical/any changes to copy.

The client will want to see the a layout at some point so I will stick with my recommendation for such a stage in proceedings.

Thank you all for your help, but I was able to accomplish my task. I basically re-created the quark file as a Word doc bye And you thought Word wasn't a layout program I had to do lots of tricks that involved invisible objects to wrap the text around and locking objects so they didn't move when someone shortened or lenthened the text in a column. It looks great, just like the quark file, so I am happy.
