Has anyone had any luck when talking with Quark Xpress technical support? I feel that I will be talking with them everyday (so many problems)

I think tek-tips is the better option ...
)

Cheers...!

Well you could also checkout

I think it's a new website but they cover some major issues related to QuarkXPress and they even feature QLA Server problems.

You wouldn't find too many answers there but you can always ask them a Question and I believe you'll get the answer.

Happy hunting !!

I have a problem. When I export file from Quark Express 5 as a PDF and then open it in Acrobat all colours and fonts are totally changed and distorted. Can anybody help me?
I don't normally use Quark and I am not planning to but on this (one off) occasion I am really desperate.
Please Help!

well u need to tell me whether this is happening with just a specific documents or all documents of QuarkXPress. If it is happening with a specific one you can try doing a thumbnail drag of this document n resaving the pictures in applications like photoshop or illustrator.
If it happens with all the documents then u can try trashing the preferences n goin in for isolation of QuarkXPress copy. This should help...

If the problem still persists try reinstalling Distiller.

Well I think that you should first create a PS file and then change the job option of your Distiller under the settings menu.

Under the Fonts tab select Embed all fonts and under the color tab select Leave color unchanged options. Hope this helps.

Thanks Guys for your response. I do appreciate it. It helped me a bit in terms of the colour. I have changed the colour and font settings in Distiller and it looks better now. However I still have a massive problem. Let me explain the whole matter in details.
I have to produce the company advert (A4 Colour Page) for the magazine. It's not my job to do that (as I am a web designer) but this company is asking for the provisional sample of their advert layout to be seen now. Our designer is away and can not be reached. So I have to urgently do that.
Company sent me 2 pictures (in JPEG format) and text. They want us to produse A4 advert for the standard A4 size magazine. I have never used Quark before and just relaying on my intuition mixed these 2 pics and text together. I need to send the final sample in PDF format. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO FOLLOW TO DO THIS.
Briefly. I need to import 2 pics and text in Quark (or any other software which would do the same job), mix them nicely and export as PDF the way that pics and text are not distorted while being viewed in Acrobat. What are the essential steps to follow? I created the picture box in Quark (without taking into the consideration the actual size of the photo), then right click-> get picture->fit pic to box. Picture gets obviously distorted.
Well, I guess I am not following the right steps any way.
I would highly appreciate if you could find some time and tell me what steps I should be following to make this happen.

Many thanks in advance.

When you select the picture box, press the following to fit the picture to the box:

MacOS: Cmd+Shift+F
Windows: Ctrl+Shift+F

To keep the picture's proportions, hold down the same keys, but also use Option (MacOS) or Alt (Windows) and the picture won't distort.

Hi buddydavis,

I visited the website www.itechsonline.com, as referred by you.

No doubt, it is nice one.
