I just got off the phone with Quark support for the question I just posted about separations going to 2 different pages and just thought I would pass this tidbit along.

Quark is outsourcing there tech support to India . . . I know outsourcing is a touchy subject in this election time but it was painfull apparent that the tech I got a hold of had never even seen a printing press let alone a pre-press department and thought that trapping was "adjustment of colors"

I didn't ask him how old he was but it would be my bet he was still in grade school when quark 4 came out.

He could probably help you make a text box or tell you how to print to a color laser but past that he was worthless . . .

My tip . . . save your money - don't buy support plans from quark - post your questions here - you'll get better answers and if you want a product that works and is supported by people that know printing think about changing to InDesign . . . :-D

I've had similar experiences. I've gotten better results from this forum. It's sad when a companies own support team isn't the most knowledgeable source around.

As you guy's I do have the same concerns and moans about Quark...but to tell the truth, I have found using the email system for Quark Tech Supp really works well...(well...has for me).

I do also agree that this site and Quarks own forum site seem to be the best place for 'odd' problems.

Also...just as a note...Quark are also using India for development of the product, they have over 1,000 people dedicated to future 'improvements', so it makes complete sense that tech supp comes from same R&D site.
