Is there a version avaliable for testing, as a free download any where?

If you can't fix it in 20 minutes call someone who can.

Not officially. This is kind of surprising. Quark offered a beta of version 5 from its web site just before it was released. You would think they would have done the same with version 6... especially with such a huge audience that needs to migrate to OSX.

Betas of 6 have been floating around in the darker recesses of the internet.

As far as I'm aware, Quark do supply betas of version 6, but they're being very selective about who gets them. The great unwashed are being left in the cold for the moment. I think there's all sorts of red tape before you can get to the inner circle. Some developers and authors, for example, have been working with it for a while.

It's strange - when you look at their new website, Quark 6 is everywhere, but when you click on the 'Free QuarkXPress Demo' graphic on the QuarkXPress 6 product info page, it downloads Quark 5! What's that all about?

a demo of 5 on quark.com?... should you expect anything more from a company that is so slow to release a OSX version?

I appreciated the beta 5 release to the general public last year. Besides offering Quark developers much needed feedback, it was an excellent way to market the new release.

Seeing that the largest portion of the Quark user-base is still using 3 & 4, you would think that they would do whatever it takes to sell folks on the new version.

You're right. One thing that's bothering me about this new release is that it will only back-save to version 5 (as far as i know). As many people avoided that version, and it may be some time before the new version is taken up in force, this is going to cause serious problems with exchanging files. At least PDF exporting looks like it might be implemented properly, so maybe this sad state of affairs will force more people into the 21st century!

Im very releved to see that so many people are worrying about that the same issues that I am. I can't believe we can get a proper beta copy, legally!!!

I do believe that the PDF exporting has been tied in with the Jaws company. That is what Jaws are claming on there website.

I don't think many people did buy Quark 5 either.........

I heard that Quark will be coming up with a Demo version somewhere in August, when they release the 6.1 version of QuarkXPress (If they really did)...
