We have one machine (Mirrored door G4) running panther and Quark 6.5 that with Quark only is so slow it it unusable. I have cleaned up the fonts on the machine and reinstalled Quark with no improvement. It takes many minutes to up any document, the interface runs very sloooooow and opening the print dialog takes a long lunch break. Anyone else run into this? We are a medium sized print shop running this version of Quark on a variety of G4's and 5's without the same problem.

Did you trash Quark prefs before you reinstalled? IF not, I'd try trashing them and relaunching to see if any improvement occurs. There was alos something about moving the Quark prefs to someplace else, but I don't remember.

You can try going to quark.com and their forums and ask about your problem in the Quark general forum.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

Thanks,

I did trash everything that had anything to do with Quark, XPress etc. Usually when I'm having a quark issue the first thing I do is trash the preferences. I'm e-mailing quark's techs now.

Try moving the vista.xt from XT folder to the Disabled XT folder. Restart.

OOPs. You'll find that extension in the Quark XT folder!

Thanks to those who answered this post. It turned out to be the "Auto Activation" preference in Suitcase Fusion. I had previously removed the Suitcase XT because it is a known problem. Apparently having ANY auto activation on puts Quark into a tailspin.
