we have a quality of service enable in a signaling server rls 4.0 and we have a network switch they don't have a quality of service where we should register a IP phone set. What should be do to register this ip phone without disable QOS in signaling server.
Thanks.

You're probably going to want a switch that has QoS. Especially if the lines you are now sharing with the network get a little congested.

Latest firmware for IP Phones has an option to ignore the QoS settings from the signaling server. Useful for phones behind data switches which have problems with 802.1q tags.

Dear gwebstr,

Can u tell me the name of the option?

Thanks.

Look into Node config in Element manager. QoS fields

It is the "Voice 802.1Q" option -- set it to zero.

802.1q has nothing to do with QoS. It is VLAN tagging and must be enabled if you are planning to put your VoIP elements in a specific VLAN.

Whether or not QoS is enabled or not on the switch, the phone will register. It may not work well if the network congests however.

MagnaRGP - some data switches have a problem with tagged packets and drop them. The fimrware setting allows you to override the Element Manager settings and send untagged packets when behind those data switches.
